Lesson 2: Teacher and Students
. Lesson Type: New lesson for speaking and listening
. Resources Analysis
The central topic of this unit is school. This
lesson is the second lesson of this unit. The topic is talking
about teacher and students. This is one of the topic of 《Nine Year
National curriculum 2011》. This topic is close to the students
daily life. After learning this lesson , students will master the
new words such as over ,doctor, the new phrases such as over there
and the new sentence patterns such as "Is she a student?" "Yes, she
is."/"No, she isn't." In addition, I will use audio and online
materials to teach this lesson. These materials are related to the
lesson content. They can stimulate students' interest in
learning.
. Student Analysis
There are 36 students in class. About 25%
students are individual learners. About 75% students are group
learners. Students learned some basic words such as friend, name.
But they didn't learn the new words such as over, doctor and the
new phrases such as over there, homeroom teacher. They also didn't
use these new words and phrases to talk with others. These words
will be used by every students in daily life and they are close to
students' life. Students will be interested in them and have
confidence in learning them. In order to talk about school with
others fluently, they need to learn this lesson.
. Teaching Objectives
1. Language knowledge and
skills
After learning this lesson ,
about 85% students will be able to recognize the new words in the
listening and reading materials such as "over, doctor". About 80%
students will be able to master the new words and the new
phrases.They will be able to use the new sentence pattern to
communicate with others.
2. Learning Strategies
With teacher's guidance, 90%
students will be able participate in learning. Students will be
able to use "who's the man over there" this sentence to
communicate.
3. Affect attitude and
Value.
Students will learn how can we
greet people in different ways. Students will be able to introduce
teachers and friends to the new friends.

Focus: To make students master the words such as
doctor, over, the phrases such as over there, homeroom teacher and
the sentence patterns such as "who's the man over
there? He is..." "Is he...? Yes, he is/No, he
isn't."

Preparation (3 mins)
First, I say to students "good morning, everybody. Nice to see you
again!" Students focus their attention on me. Then I say "Let's
review the knowledge of yesterday. I dictate some words in last
lesson. In this way, students are ready for English class. So, I
begin our class "Teacher and Students" and write it on the
board.
Pre—listening (10 mins)
1. Learn new words
a. Students read the new words after me
Intention: It makes students remember word pronunciation
b. I teach students the usage of words by PPT:
classmate : It means a person who is in the same class as you as
school.
eg. My classmates are very friendly.
doctor: a person who is to treat people who are ill/injured
eg. Her father is a doctor.
c. Give Students time to understand and remember the words .
lntention: Students remember the words in the class can reduce the
burden after class.
2. Ask Students a question about the audio: "who's the girl with
Mr. Jones?"
Intention: It can make students focus their attention when they
listen to the audio.
While—listenng (15 mins)
1. Students
listen to the audio and answer the question I asked.
Intention: It can text whether students understand the
content.
2. I put the audio twice and make students follow
Intention: It can train their pronunciation
3. Ask several students to read the text.
Intention: To text the results of students listening and enhance
their confidence.
Post-listening (10 mins)
1. Role-play
Students perform the text dialogue voluntarily
Intention: It makes students consolidate what they have learned. In
addition, this activity can make the classroom atmosphere
active
2. Each group of four students practice dialogues using the
patterns learned in this lesson.
Intention: To train students' oral English
Progress evaluation (5 mins)
1. I lead students to understand the "culture tip."
Intention: It makes students learn how to greet peope in different
ways
2. Complete No.I and No.2 in "let's do it".
Intention: To further deepen the students impression of the text
content.
